Thank you for your interest in receiving one of our Fabulous Flunkies or "released" dogs. Below you will find an application, which is the first step in being considered as a potential adoptive owner. Please complete the application and return it along with the pictures that are requested below.  When we receive your application and pictures, it will be reviewed by an Assistance Dogs representative and we will contact you to set up a day and time for a phone interview. Our released dogs are special to us and we want to be certain we screen all people inquiring about them.

There are several things of which we want you to be aware. Our dogs are usually Golden Retrievers or Labrador Retrievers, or mixes thereof. They range in age between 9 months and 2 years. In most situations, the dogs have already visited the veterinarian’s office and have been spayed/neutered, heartworm checked, and vaccinated. The dog has begun basic obedience training.  He has been well fed and well taken care of. We ask for a monetary donation to cover the above-mentioned expenses.

Once your application is received and the home interview completed, you will be placed on our waiting list. It is important to note that you may be on the waiting list for days, weeks, or months and this will call for patience on your part. We have no idea when a dog will be released from the program. We ask that you notify us if you have obtained a dog or are no longer interested in one of our dogs. This will keep the list shorter and up-to-date.

When a dog comes up for adoption that meets the criteria you specified during the phone interview, we will contact you. Arrangements will be made for you and your family to come to our facility and meet the dog. When a person adopts a dog, there is a two-week “trial period," and we will hold your donation until that time is over. If, for any reason, the dog is not working out for you or your family, you have the option of contacting us and returning the dog, and we will return your donation. If we have concerns about the care and welfare of our dog, we have an obligation to remove him, at which time your donation will be returned.

Please complete the application and return it with the following pictures of your home and yard:
